June has been a busy month for the Nanoyou project, which was presented for the first time in experts’ conferences in the Czech Republic and Italy.

From the 2nd to the 5th of June, Nanoyou travelled to Prague, Czech Republic, where the EuroNanoForum 2009 was taking place. The Nanoyou project was presented in a conference presided by Vered Ehrlich, from ORT. Vered also participated in a workshop with the representatives of three other European projects on nanotechnologies communication: NanoTV, NanoToTouch and Time4Nano. The workshop resulted in future collaboration initiatives amongst the four projects that would offer more resources and opportunities to the participants.

During the same time, from the 4th to the 6th of June, Nanoyou travelled to Milan, Italy, to participate in the ECSITE annual Conference 2009. Laurent Chicoineau, director of CCSTI-Grenoble, presented the Nanoyou project within a conference on the new projects that are being done in the field of communication and outreach of nanosciences and nanotechnologies by members of the ECSITE Network.  The EC founded projects were presented by the scientific officer of the European Commission, Matteo Bonazzi.

The EuroNanoForum is a European and International Forum on Nanotechnology. This year’s edition of the EuroNanoForum focussed on “Nanotechnology for sustainable economy”, addressing the contribution and challenges of nanotechnology research for a sustainable development of European industry and society, while presenting up-to-date technologies, products and services enabled by nanotechnologies.

The ECSITE annual Conference is organised annually by the European Network of Science Centres and Museums. The Conference brings together professionals from different sectors on the field of science communication to share views and discuss the new challenges science communication are facing.

In this first stage of the project, partners will continue to promote Nanoyou in congresses and conferences. Other initiatives such as a newsletter aimed at European educators will also be launched.
