Centre for Social Innovation

Established in 1990 and located in Vienna, the Centre for Social Innovation (ZSI) is a non-profit and politically independent research institute, which asserts thematic leadership throughout Europe towards growth in social innovation and the promotion of an overt and solidly united society.

ZSI is divided into three core areas: work and equal opportunities, technology and knowledge, and research policy and development. It applies socio-scientific research, education, advisory and networking services to reduce the gap between social needs and the knowledge based information society. By linking scientific bases with practical applications, ZSI provides an interface across scientific disciplines and sectors.

Work is organised and financed one project at a time. This encourages participation in competitive calls for proposals and calls for tenders, which are published by public authorities on national, European and international levels.
